Mark McEntire Joins Emerge as Chief Executive Officer

Emerge Team
September 2, 2026

Emerge has named Mark McEntire Chief Executive Officer, effective September 2, 2026. McEntire joins from Princeton TMX, where he has served as CEO since 2023. Andrew Leto returns to the Founder role he held in our earliest years, and Michael Leto, who co-founded Emerge in 2017, continues as President.

Emerge gives shippers one place to run contract and spot procurement, from annual RFPs and mini-bids to real-time spot quoting and carrier scorecards, across their existing carrier network and a vetted network of thousands of carriers.

He already knows the building

McEntire served as Senior Vice President of Strategic Operations at Emerge in 2022 and 2023. He worked with our customers, our carriers, and many of the people still here.

Most new CEOs spend their first two quarters learning the product and meeting the customer base. Mark already has both. That is the practical argument for this hire, and it is the one that mattered most to us.

35 years on the operating side

Before software, McEntire spent his career inside shipper transportation networks. 17 years at Transplace, now part of Uber Freight, most recently as Senior Vice President of Managed Transportation. Earlier roles at J.B. Hunt Transport and Penske Logistics, where he twice earned the company's President's Award. He is a General Electric certified Six Sigma Black Belt and was selected by Supply & Demand Chain Executive as one of their 2024 Pros to Know for the Lifetime Achievement Award!

In short: he has been the shipper, he has sat in the procurement seat, run the bid, managed the routing guide, and answered for the number at the end of the quarter. Then he went and built technology for people doing that job. Very few people in this industry have done both.

What this means if you are an existing partner

Nothing changes about your account, your team, or your contracts.

What changes is pace. The second half of 2026 is not a forgiving market. Carrier attrition is thinning networks, routing guides built on last year's assumptions are failing faster than usual, and rates are moving in ways that punish an annual bid cycle. The shippers who come through this fine are the ones with diverse, vetted networks and the flexibility to change procurement cadence when the market changes underneath them.

That is the problem Emerge was built to solve, and it is why we wanted an operator in the CEO seat now rather than a year from now. McEntire's mandate is to get the platform in front of more shippers and to make it work harder for the ones already running on it, starting with the LTL expansion we just brought to ProcureOS.

In Mark's words

Q: You left Emerge in 2023. Why come back?

I’ve always had a strong belief in Emerge, the leadership, its people and the opportunity that lies ahead. My time away gave me the opportunity to broaden my experience and perspective, and when the opportunity arose to return as the CEO, it was incredibly compelling.  I know this company, I know the industry, and I am excited to come back at an important point in the Emerge journey and lead its next chapter.

Q: What did running Princeton TMX teach you that you are bringing here?

Princeton TMX reinforced something I’ve believed for a long time: stay close to the customer.  Technology is critical, but customers ultimately care about trusted outcomes. Listen to what they need, be clear about where you can create differentiated value, and then align the organization around delivering it.

Q: What are you focused on in your first 90 days?

My first 90 days will be about listening, learning and getting close to the business. I want to spend meaningful time with our customers, our team and our partners to understand where Emerge is creating the most value and where we can have the greatest opportunities. From there, it’s about aligning the organization around a clear set of priorities and making sure we’re focused on the things that will have the greatest impact for our customers and the business.  I am not coming in with a predetermined playbook – I want to learn first, then move with purpose and urgency.
